Throughout the nation, as a fleet of quick house and commercial entryways were constructed in the last few decades, several major steps were skipped to provide the necessary support for structurally spanned arches. From most to least common, see if you can find any of these on your entryway:
Lack of an angle irons support or centralized bond beam to bear the weight of the arch and any masonry above the opening.
Inadequate columns or walls holding the weight of the archway
Pivot cracks from foundation shifting causing a drop in the arch
